I’ve really enjoyed creating this Summertime Dating series! If you missed the first two posts, be sure to read about the picnic and the drive-in. I was hesitant to start dating again last Summer, but now, dating has been full of excitement, laughter and has forced me to get out of my own comfort zone.
Back in December, D asked me if I wanted to do a sushi date night. Of course I said yes, but I was a little confused when he came over and brought a sushi making kit along with groceries. Making sushi is something I would NEVER do on my own. I’m the convenience queen, and if you really know me, you know I’m not very crafty or very creative. However I’m also super competitive, so when I agreed to try the homemade sushi thing, I was determined to be good at it. Well, you can’t win at everything, so once I got going, I accepted the fact that my sushi rolling and cutting skills just weren’t that great. But, that’s OK! It’s really just about trying new things and being okay with laughing at yourself. Life is too short!
Here were the sushi results from December:

We decided that we wanted to try making our own sushi again since it had been 7 months since the first time! We also recently discovered Vegan Ahi Tuna and have been making it every week. We wanted to try it out in a sushi roll and oh my goodness, it was delicious!

D and I have always had a great time cooking together and trying out new recipes. We get Purple Carrot delivered every Monday and that forces us to try out new recipes and food together. Making sushi was more fun than just cooking a regular meal, because it required a little more focus and work together. I really just love to laugh and have fun and creating sushi definitely brought out the laughter!

We kept our sushi rolls as simple as possible and filled them with our Vegan Ahi Tuna recipe and cucumber. The only other required ingredients to make your rolls are nori and sticky rice! We used a Sushezi sushi making kit.
