The older my kids get, the faster time seems to be flying by. I remember the days would go on forever in the baby and toddler years, and now, it’s all just going by so fast. I use to sit and have time to blog about every milestone, every precious moment. Oh, how life sure has changed!

When my oldest daughter turned 2, I started making birthday movies for her, after getting the idea from one of my best friends. So, I started a tradition of making a birthday movie every year for my kids’ birthdays. The movie would be a few minutes long, consisting of all my favorite pics and videos from the following year. I also made the decision to only do the birthday movies up until their 10th birthday.

They’ve been a ton of work, but my girls always look forward to watching their special movie every year. I was so fortunate enough to have a Dad who filmed my entire childhood and then turned all of his VHS tapes into DVDS for my sister and I before he unexpectedly died. I can watch home movies whenever I want and re-live all those special moments growing up. Nowadays, with everything being recorded in short clips on phones, it’s going to be a lot harder for our kids to go back and watch ” home movies.” After I made a few years of each girls’ birthday movies, my Dad had suggested putting them all together in order on a DVD.

You can check out Cora’s 10th birthday movie here and Blakesley’s 6th birthday movie here.
I like to use Vimeo because you can use any music you want and then can easily share the videos on social media without any issues. I pay a yearly storage fee. You can see all of my videos here. Now, if I only I could get up to speed on organizing my pics online and printing photo books! I use to be really good at printing photo books every 6 months or after a vacation. It could seriously be a full-time job!
How do you organize your family pics and videos?
