My overall goal is to be here to inspire you to to be the best version of yourself so you can live an enjoyable, healthy life. I will always provide information and ideas to make your diet healthier and definitely not harder. I started my “Sub this for that” series with a post about how to swap out your ground beef for a plant based version.
This is part 2 of my series, and this post is not going to be about one particular food/ingredient to substitute. This is more of a quick getting started guide with my 5 favorite subs! I’ve had lots of followers tell me they really want to eat healthier, but don’t know where to start and need direction in making changes.
It’s all about starting small, so here are 5 things you can buy at the grocery store to kick off your journey to eating a healthier, more plant-based diet.
5 Easy Items to Sub:
1.) Beef
Try subbing out your ground beef and patties for this healthier version. I promise you will love the taste!
2.) Milk
There are so many different types of plant based milks on the market that are all great! My favorite, Ripple, which is made from pea protein, has 8 grams of protein per serving, 50% more calcium than cow’s milk and 0 sugar. I love this milk so much, and so do my kids. I buy the chocolate milk for them as a special treat, but normally only use the unsweetened original.
3.) CHEESE
I finally found a non-dairy cheese that tastes great, and melts better than others I have tried. Costco started carrying a huge bag of the cheddar flavor, which is a way better deal than the smaller bags.
4.) PASTA
Swap out your regular pasta for a version that is gluten free and contains WAY more protein & fiber! You will be satisfied longer and feel better after eating!
5.) SWEETENERS
Try switching to coconut sugar instead of refined white sugar. It’s a natural sweetener and less processed.
