It’s my favorite time of year, and the Fall weather has been nothing short of gorgeous here in Indiana. It’s been in the 70s and 80s almost every weekend this Fall!
I love trying out new outdoor activities with the kids and I’ve been focusing on making new traditions for the girls and myself. This year, we tried out the Sullivan’s Hardware Train to PumpkinTown and it was such a fun and cute event!

Boarding the train to PumpkinTown!
For the last few years, we have always done the Polar Express in French Lick for Christmas, but we weren’t able to get tickets before they sold out this year. I had heard of Sullivan’s Polar Express, but never done it. I then saw that they were doing a Fall themed Pumpkin Train this year and so I bought tickets and we went last Thursday night. Our train was set to leave at 7:35 PM, but we arrived early after our dinner reservation, and they put us on the earlier train! I had no idea what to expect, but I was extremely impressed. Sullivans is gorgeous, and when you board the train, you ride through all sorts of little Halloween scenes complete with music, decorations and animated Fall and Halloween characters.

All aboard!

Upon arriving to PumpkinTown, the Mayor greets you, and then you have an hour or so explore and enjoy the sights! There was a magician, trick-or-treating in a mini subdivision, drinks and snacks, hay bales to climb on, a pumpkin painting craft station and tons of photo opportunities! We especially loved the magician and his card tricks were a huge hit with my older girls!

Mesmerized by Magic!
Fun at PumpkinTown
The girls always love going to an apple orchard or a pumpkin patch this time of year. Last year we went to Piney Acres and really enjoyed it. This year we decided to go to Stuckey’s, where we had been a few years ago. When we went to Stuckey’s, we didn’t even buy tickets for all of the rides and entertainment. My girls simply wanted to pick apples, so we just purchased a small bag to go apple picking. I’m really glad we chose to spend the money on our train ride to PumpkinTown instead of Stuckey’s activities. My girls have always loved apple picking, and eating apples along the way!
YUM!
Apple Picking!
I was grateful to get to go on Blakesley’s very 1st Kindergarten field trip. We went to, Tuttle Orchards and it was such a sweet field trip and we made lots of special memories. I must say, that out of all the apple cider and pumpkin donuts I have tried, that Tuttle has the best!
Another Fall favorite event is the Headless Horseman at Conner Prairie. We have had a Conner Prairie membership for years now. It’s such a wonderful place for kids to explore, learn and be outside. I love their Fall festival and Headless Horseman hay ride, but my girls’ Dad is taking them later this month. I figured I would do something different with them, so that was why I bought the tickets for PumpkinTown.
It can be overwhelming to pick a Fall activity for your family to attend, since there are so many going on right now! A lot of them cost money, but as I mentioned, my kids are happiest just running around in the apple orchard, picking and eating apples. Take advantage of this gorgeous weather and get outside while you can!
