What’s more challenging than e-learning? Having multiple snow days AND e-learning. My kids finally started going back to in-person school 4 days a week, but Fridays are still e-learning days. And, when we have snow days, we automatically do e-learning, so our district doesn’t have to make up the school in the summer. One of the things that is the most challenging during this tough season is keeping your children happy and entertained. It’s even more challenging when you have multiple kids and have to keep younger ones busy while the older ones do their school work.

Trying to limit screen time during all the time spent indoors can be tricky. I’ve found it is important to have toys for kids to play with independently, but also some fun things that you can play together as a family.
First of all, give yourself some grace and dont feel guilty if your kids have extra screen time. As parents, especially as working parents or single parents, I know you are doing the best you can do.
Secondly, take time to stock up on fun crafts, games and toys for your kids that you can pull out when things get monotonous. I will share what has personally worked for my family to break up the boredom. (Especially when you are sick of playing in the snow and washing and drying all the snow gear over and over again!)

Here are some of my favorite ways to keep my kids entertained so they don’t completely rot away on technology all day long:
Toys:
I love Fat Brain Toys. I have purchased countless toys and games from this website over the years for my own kids and gifts for others.
This is the bug vacuum like I have! It is one of my can’t live without products!
Good old fashioned card games:
My girls and I love playing cards. Uno has always been a classic go to, but our favorite card game right now is Gin Rummy. My 4 year old even learned how to play!
