
I’ve found that so many people want to eat healthier and try out a plant based diet, but they have no idea where to start or what to sub out for their meat. I am here to help and provide information and ideas to make your diet healthier and definitely not harder. I’m excited for this segment of my Sub this for that series…
Chicken:
I never thought I would find a good chicken substitute, but I sure was wrong! I encourage everyone to try subbing out your regular chicken for a plant-based option. My recommendations as far as flavor and consistency go:
You truly don’t even need new recipes to switch to a plant-based diet. You can simply just sub out your normal meat product for some of the ideas above. By doing so you will be living a healthier, leaner life and also helping out the environment in a huge way!
Alpha Foods Chicken Patty
I discovered the Alpha Foods crispy chicken patty at Costco and I am hooked!! Who doesn’t love a good chicken sandwich? Alpha Foods makes a ton of plant-based substitutions for meat, but so far I have only had the chicken patty.
Raised & Rooted Plant Based Nuggets
My kids are obsessed with these, but I am too!! I’ve served them to other kids who are not vegetarians and no one has ever noticed! I buy these at Aldi or Costco. Alpha has nuggets too, I just haven’t tried them yet. I would imagine they are great, just like their patty!
Jackfruit
Jackfruit was the first chicken substitute that I ever used and I used it in tacos and LOVED it. The consistency was exactly like shredded chicken and I love the different flavors that the Upton’s brand has. Plus, I always feel better eating an actual fruit!
